Skilled Occupations List has been replaced by the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and applicants applying for Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) are now required to nominate an occupation from this new list.

International students are encouraged to view the new Skilled Occupation Lists released by the Australian Government. These lists affect applicants who are issued invitations on or after 1 July 2016 to apply for subclass 189 Skilled – Independent visa, subclass 489 Skilled – Regional (Provisional) visa, subclass 190 Skilled – Nominated visa and subclass 489 Skilled – Regional (Provisional) visa.
This new initiative looks good! Keep an eye out for it over the next few months once it is rolled out nationally.
